Children under one year old are cared for in our thoughtfully designed infant rooms providing a home from home environment, where they are provided with many experiences to enhance their early development, including paint and water play, as well as plenty of cuddles. Each child follows its own routine, agreed with parents until they are old enough to follow the more structured routines of the older children. We maintain a ratio of one qualified teacher to four infants to ensure plenty of individual attention.

When they are ready, the infants move up to our one year old class where they are more mobile and begin to experience exciting new activities, both indoor and outdoor. We provide lots of resources and qualified teachers lead them through busy days packed with fun and learning.

There are individual classrooms for two and three year olds where age appropriate toys, games and activities are provided. This enables the teachers to ensure activities capture their attention and keep them engaged and learning. They have lots of fun while being encouraged to try lots of exciting new experiences as well as continuing with familiar old favorites. Children are increasingly encouraged to become more independent, becoming more competent with skills like feeding themselves and toileting. They are encouraged to share and be kind as they begin to play with others.

Our Preschool class is full of enquiring minds! The center follows the Learn Every Day Curriculum supplemented by Nemours Bright Start. The curriculum is used to plan activities that encourage our children to explore and investigate their environment. We want them to be curious, excited and eager to learn. They play more with other children and want to be part of the group. They can play for extended periods, plan complex games and negotiate what will happen next. They can express their thoughts and wishes They continue to develop their physical skills, both gross and fine motor. Children begin to know letters and numbers and that words convey meaning. They are preparing for formal education and we provide great opportunities for them to learn the basic skills they need to succeed.

Our school age children enjoy a large indoor and outdoor space separate from preschool before and after school hours and during school closures.

We have two very large play areas with plenty for all ages to do when they are outside. The younger children, under 2 years old, have their own enclosed outdoor play area which is fully sheltered, enabling them to have access to outside activities every day. Older children are taken on field trips both for educational purposes and simply for fun!

The center follows the Creative Curriculum and believes that children learn best by doing, so need to be offered a wide variety of opportunities to experience different things. They are offered art and craft activities, role play, music, stories and physical activities every day and encouraged to try new experiences. We regularly invite parents and families to join us for a variety of occasions, including Mothers Day, Fathers Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Parents are also welcome to visit at any time and families of enrolled children are given access codes for our external doors.

Jeanni’s participates in the Childcare Food Program which is sponsored by the US Department of Agriculture to encourage children to follow a healthy lifestyle. With the current emphasis on obesity, we see this as an important way to educate children on healthy eating, as they are provided with balanced menus each meal time and encouraged to drink plenty of milk. The program has proved popular with the children who enjoy the variety of foods provided, and with parents who can be assured their children are being given good food. There is no additional charge to families for this service.
